Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a former chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and formerly teaches cooking. She is host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef at the Food Network. With her trademark spiky blond hair and her pumped-up appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers simple, easy-to-learn techniques for the at-home cook in her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Burrell is a chef who has been in the kitchen for a long time. Burrell is also a seasoned veteran of New York City's best restaurants. She has also explored Italy's cuisine and culture, as well as the geography. As a child in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell developed a passion for food and cooking early on. She pursued her passion for working in the restaurant business by enrolment at The Culinary Institute of America after obtaining a degree in English as well as Communication at Canisius College, Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was where I had the most fun time of my life. I couldn't seem to get enough out of it. After graduating, chef Burrell resided in Italy for one year taking classes at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Also, she was employed at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin star restaurant) in Tuscany. While in Italy she grew to truly appreciate and understand the philosophy of Italian food and culture that left a lasting impact on her culinary perspective. Burrell was a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which helps brighten the lives of children facing obstacles and is also an Juvenile diabetes research foundation Celebrity Ambassador, where she promotes children with diabetes and awareness. In her capacity as a guest speaker and teacher, she travels around the U.S. to share her passion for cooking as well as her profession. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne often says that she feels extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to share my passion in life with others.
